Number (N)ine Autumn-Winter 2006/07 'Noir' Argyle Mohair Sweater
From Autumn–Winter 2006/07, fittingly titled Noir, this mohair sweater comes from Takahiro Miyashita’s exploration of darkness not as a single color, but as a spectrum expressed through texture, pattern, and construction. While the collection sent most looks out in head-to-toe black, pieces featuring argyle patchwork and Brandeburg-style ornamentation revealed how contrast and detail could expand the expressive limits of Noir.
Knit in a bold black, grey, and cream argyle, the sweater is crafted from a dense, exceptionally soft mohair blend that provides warmth and pronounced tactile depth. Its relaxed, slightly slouched silhouette reflects Miyashita’s enduring dialogue with grunge, while the high-pile mohair lends the piece an almost hazy, dreamlike presence. Rare and highly coveted, it distills Miyashita’s signature balance of fragility, rebellion, and meticulous craftsmanship.
