Comme des Garçons Homme Plus AW 1995 'Sleep' Sweater
Comme des Garçons Homme Plus AW 1995 'Sleep' Sweater
Rare wool sweater from Comme des Garçons Homme Plus' AW 1995 collection, 'Sleep'.
Initially met with strong backlash from critics due its perceived appropriation of Holocaust themes, the collection would later go down as one Rei Kawakubo's strongest menswear collections. Featuring a string of motifs including footprints, printed numerals, and pajama stripes, the collection was simultaneously dark and moody, yet laid-back and unassuming. Despite critical objections, Rei Kawakubo stated there was 'no meaning', and more likely simply hoped to reintroduce lounge and leisurewear back into the menswear world with comfortable, luxurious fabrics and relaxed cuts.
This particular sweater, constructed from an incredibly soft and warm wool, also features contrast cuffs on both the neck and sleeves.
