Lieve Van Gorp Autumn-Winter 1998/99 'Victim or Hero' V-Neck Shirt
Lieve Van Gorp Autumn-Winter 1998/99 'Victim or Hero' V-Neck Shirt
Rare v-neck graphic top from Belgian designer Lieve Van Gorp’s influential Autumn-Winter 1998/99 collection. Part of her subversive, rock n' roll infused early work, the collection features a motif of the phrase “Victim or Hero?” printed over various controversial cultural figures such as Jesus Christ, Che Guevara, and Patty Hearst.
A graduate of the Antwerp Academy, Van Gorp's work often explored themes of trauma, identity, and gender through deconstructed tailoring, bold graphics, and punk and rock n' roll aesthetics. Though lesser-known than her Antwerp Six peers, her early collections have become cult favorites in archival fashion circles.
Constructed from soft, lightweight black cotton with a slim cut and elongated, 5/8ths length sleeves.
