Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme Shibori Dyed Longsleeve
Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme Shibori Dyed Longsleeve
Beautiful early ’90s garment from Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme. Crafted from an ultra-lightweight cotton, the fabric has been specially treated to create a permanent wrinkled texture, an experimental surface manipulation reminiscent of Issey Miyake’s Pleats Please line, which emerged around the same time.
Layered with traditional Japanese shibori dip-dyeing techniques, the shirt takes on a visual depth that borders on trompe l’œil: folds and shadows are both printed and real, producing a complex three-dimensional effect.
A rare intersection of artisanal dyeing, textile innovation, and Yohji’s trademark, deft silhouette, this piece speaks to the conceptual energy of Japanese menswear in the early 1990s.
